Identity Fraud

Identity fraud is committed by assuming another person’s identity. It is often the consequence of identity theft. Identity fraud is committed by criminals using personal details obtained via social engineering or phishing. They can, for instance, open bank accounts in this person’s name in order to launderfunnel away illegal funds. Or to make purchases on credit.
