Phishing: What you can do
Always be aware that criminals may be after your personal details. So when banking online, always check that the security is activated, the payment details are correct and the website is legitimate. Use the Check test (only in Dutch) to help you make absolutely sure. Remember that your bank will never ask you for security codes, and particularly not at unexpected times or places. It is also advisable to make use of a spam filter and to immediately remove any suspicious emails. If you inadvertently reveal personal details to a phisher, inform your bank immediately.
Tips for recognising phishing:
- An unexpected email from your own or other bank
- Poorly worded emails
- The email is not directed to you personally
- The email is allegedly from your bank
