Cheques
The Eurocheque and Girobetaalkaart were abolished in The Netherlands in 2002, but cheques are still used in many other countries. Foreign cheques are also a common payment method in international trade, and you may be confronted with these when selling goods online.
Risk
If you accept a payment by cheque, you run the risk of the cheque bouncing due to insufficient funds. It may also be forged or counterfeit. In these cases, the cheque will not be paid out. And if it has already been cashed, the payment will be debited again from your account, leaving you with a loss if the goods have already been delivered.
