E-purse

Virtually every debit card contains an e-purse (‘Chipknip’). This is denoted by the ‘Chipknip' logo on the back. The e-purse is mainly used in the ‘parvenca segment’ (PARking, VENding and CAtering). In 2009 about 180 million payments were made with the e-purse in The Netherlands. The use of the e-purse in shops is decreasing.
